UVC technology has been around for more than 100 years, it was brought to light in the late 1800's by Professor & Scientist, Dr. Niels Ryberg Finsen. He was awarded the 1903 Nobel Prize in medicine as he discover the effects of sun rays against diseases, such as TB and Lupus.

Over the years, UVC technology has evolved and has been used in many industries to keep them free of pathogens, including Hospitals and their operating rooms. For decades, the devices available to do this have been operating with bulbs, which have to be replaced at certain intervals in order to keep their effectiveness.
